
Prof. Dr. Mark Klein
Prof. Mark Klein is a research scientist at the Center for Collective Intelligence at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), an affiliate professor at the School of Collective Intelligence, and chief scientist at HiveWise Inc., a startup advancing the commercialization of his research in collective intelligence. His work focuses on creating technologies that enable large groups of people to collaboratively tackle complex, real-world challenges—particularly where traditional decision-making processes have proven inadequate.
With an interdisciplinary approach grounded in artificial intelligence, data science, operations research, complex systems, and human-computer interaction, Dr. Klein’s career spans research and teaching roles at institutions such as Hitachi, Boeing, Penn State, University of Zurich, Nagoya Institute of Technology, and AIST in Tokyo. He holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Illinois.
