Giray Berberoglu is a professor of Educational Measurement and Assessment at Başkent University, Ankara. He previously worked at the Middle East Technical University (METU). He received his BSc and MSc degrees from METU, and his PhD degree from Hacettepe University.
He was a Fulbright visiting scholar in the academic years of 1995–1996 and 2012–2013 at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He has worked as a consultant in national and international organisations and as a director of the Research and Development Section in Student Measurement and Selection Center (OSYM) in
Turkey. His research agenda basically focuses on applications of Item Response Theory techniques in solving measurement problems, modeling trends in students’ learning based on learning trajectories, cross-cultural and cross-lingual assessments of students’ cognitive and affective outcomes, factors related to achievement in Turkish language, mathematics and natural sciences, definition and assessment of higher order cognitive skills of students learning achievement, and re-analyses of international assessments’ data sets, such as, Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) and Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA).
