Nazlı Çevik Azazi

Nazlı Çevik Azazi is a storyteller, theatre/dance pedagogue (Master of Arts), trainer, and author. Awarded the “Thüringen Fairy Tale and Legend Award” in Germany in 2017, she conducts national and international projects aimed at revitalizing the nearly forgotten art of storytelling in our country and adapting it to meet the needs of modern life.

She began her academic career at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Istanbul University. During her university years, she continued her artistic pursuits in theatre, dance, and creative drama. After graduation, she spent many years engaging in creative drama and creative dance activities with both children and adults.

In 2006, Nazlı decided to continue her academic journey in Berlin, where she began learning German. In 2008, she enrolled in the Master’s program in Theatre Pedagogy at the Berlin University of the Arts. After completing her Master’s degree in 2011, she successfully undertook a scholarship-supported training in “Artistic Expression – Storytelling in Education and the Arts” at the same institution between 2011 and 2013.

During her six-year stay in Berlin, in addition to her university studies, she completed certificate programs in “Creative Dance and Dance Pedagogy” at contemporary dance schools TanzTangente (2009–2010) and Dock11 (2010–2011). While living in Berlin, she worked professionally in theatre, dance, and storytelling across various settings—including theatres, museums, schools, family centers, and art schools—engaging with people of all ages. In 2013, inspired by the wealth of knowledge and experience she had accumulated over the years, she returned to Turkey and intensified her work in the art of storytelling.

After her return to Turkey, she deepened her studies in psychology, philosophy, and ancient traditions—fields that have been her secret passion since childhood and that she has always carried in her heart. She began a Fundamental Existential Analysis Training in Istanbul in October 2018, completing it in June 2020. In December 2023, she further expanded her creative practice by completing a training in Expressive Arts Therapy for Mental Health, Education, and Social Change at the Expressiv Arts Institute (EXA) in Istanbul, taking her work with communities and individuals to a new level with the spirit of EXA.

Drawing on the experience and expertise she has acquired over many years in storytelling, Nazlı has published her first book, “MASAL: The Love Between Two Worlds”; her second book, “Healing Tales”; and her third book for children, “My Tree Friend,” all released by Doğan Novus.

While continuing to tell stories and provide education to people of all ages both in Turkey and abroad, Nazlı also actively develops projects in the field of storytelling on national and international platforms.
